SYCAMORE LAND TRUST WELCOMES NEW DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR, HANNAH HIRSCH

Sycamore Land Trust welcomes Hannah Hirsch as its new Development Director, bringing over a decade of nonprofit fundraising and community engagement experience to the organization's growing conservation efforts. A Bloomington native with deep ties to the community, Hannah will lead fundraising initiatives and strengthen relationships with the supporters who make Sycamore's land protection, habitat restoration, and environmental education work possible.

In her previous positions with the Indiana University Foundation, Girls Inc. of Monroe County, United Way of South Central Indiana, and other local nonprofits, Hannah has focused on building meaningful relationships with donors, volunteers, and community leaders to connect philanthropic support with causes that strengthen communities.

"Sycamore land trust is fortunate to have hired a seasoned development professional in Hannah Hirsch. We are excited to welcome her into the fold and look forward to an amazing new era of nurturing existing relationships within the Sycamore family as well as building many new relationships," said Alex Sienkiewicz, Sycamore’s Executive Director.

A self-described “Bloomington townie, community fundraiser, and enthusiastic believer in the people and places that make southern Indiana special,” Hirsch graduated from Indiana University and has deep roots in the community. After spending several years in Belgium with her husband, they “Bloomeranged” back home in 2018. Her volunteer leadership includes service with the Bloomington Rotary Club, the Local Council of Women in Bloomington, and Leadership Bloomington-Monroe County, where she previously served as Board Chair.

“This great Hoosier state of Indiana is home, and I can’t imagine a more meaningful job than inviting people to fall in love with it, invest in it, and help protect it for the people who will call it home long after us,” Hannah said.

As Director of Development, Hirsch will oversee Sycamore's fundraising strategy, strengthen relationships with existing supporters, and introduce new donors to opportunities to support the permanent protection of southern Indiana's forests, wetlands, and other important wildlife habitats. Her experience building philanthropic partnerships will help advance Sycamore’s Carl Ziegler Wetlands and Education Center, a landmark project that will provide a permanent home for Sycamore's environmental education programs and expand opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to experience the wonder of nature.

Hannah and her husband are raising their three young children alongside what she describes as a “small (and slightly chaotic) collection of homestead critters that currently includes geese, chickens, bees, and sheep.” She is happiest outdoors, around good people, and finding new reasons to love Bloomington.

Reach out to Hannah at 812-336-5382 ext. 104, send her a note at [email protected], or if you’re in Bloomington, come visit us at Cedar Crest, our headquarters. She will be delighted to welcome you, learn your Sycamore story, and talk about what we can protect together.
