State Awards Road Funding to Local Communities

Communities in Senate District 48 are receiving more than $5.4 million to improve roads and bridges through the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program.

The CCMG, established by the Indiana General Assembly in 2016, aims to advance community infrastructure projects, strengthen local transportation networks and improve Indiana’s roads and bridges. Since its enactment, the program has awarded more than $2 billion in state matching funds for local construction projects.

In Senate District 48, the following communities received grants:

  • Cannelton received $312,805.84;
  • Crawford County received $348,159.20;
  • Dale received $358,452;
  • Dubois County received $319,064.75;
  • Ferdinand received $119,886.36;
  • Fort Branch received $301,180.84;
  • Gibson County received $326,623.52;
  • Haubstadt received $332,672;
  • Huntingburg received $347,277.75;
  • Jasper received $358,545.25;
  • Oakland City received $318,092;
  • Patoka received $87,775.40;

  • Petersburg received $244,220;
  • Pike County received $256,119.69;
  • Princeton received $279,738.87;
  • Somerville received $123,076;
  • Spencer County received $320,890.69; and
  • Tell City received $342,200.

One thing I've heard during my travels throughout Senate District 48 is concern about local roads not being properly maintained. The Community Crossings Matching Grant Program gives vital funding options to local governments to ensure roads and bridges are safe for motorists who need to get to work, school or run errands.
