Among the honorees was Sellersburg Post Administrative Assistant Karen Blunk, who received the Professional Staff Employee of the Year Award for Southern Indiana. Karen is an integral part of ISP Sellersburg, and her dedication and professionalism have made a meaningful impact on the post. The award reads as follows:

It is truly difficult to fully capture the impact Administrative Assistant Karen Blunk has on the Sellersburg District. Quite simply, Karen is the Sellersburg District. She exemplifies reliability, professionalism, and kindness, and serves as the heartbeat of the post.
In late summer 2025, the Sellersburg District underwent a significant change of command involving both the District Commander and Assistant District Commander. Throughout this transition, Karen was heavily relied upon for her extensive experience and expertise, ensuring the process remained seamless and efficient.
Although she would never seek recognition for it, Karen selflessly delayed her own retirement to support the district during this critical period. This is just one of many examples of her unwavering commitment to the mission—one she clearly cares about and believes in. Karen is a wealth of knowledge regarding day-to-day operations and serves as an essential resource for command staff and personnel alike.
Karen manages a wide range of administrative responsibilities, including Line of Duty Injury and Illness documentation, Statements of Justification, petty cash fund management, coordination of post events, work orders, and supply inventory, all while assisting with non-emergency public inquiries. She consistently demonstrates exceptional organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to effectively prioritize competing demands.
Her effectiveness is further enhanced by her commitment to staying current with departmental communications and information systems. Karen consistently maintains the highest level of professionalism and is always courteous and respectful in her interactions with both the public and department personnel. She reports to work each day with a strong sense of purpose and a positive attitude.
Mrs. Blunk is truly invaluable and deeply appreciated by everyone in the Sellersburg District. It is both an honor and a privilege to work alongside her and to nominate her for this well-deserved award.
