Search for Armed and Dangerous Suspect Ends

Lynnville- The search for Michael White has ended.

Thursday night, a multi-day search for Michael White, 64 of Chandler, ended with his death.

Residents of Lynnville reported hearing a loud “bang” prior to seeing several law enforcement vehicles speeding to the scene. According to a press release from the Indiana State Police, officers from the US Marshall’s Multi-Agency Taskforce located White near Lynnville. White and the taskforce officers would exchange gunfire before White retreated into a nearby barn.

After multiple failed efforts to communicate with him, ISP Swat found him unresponsive. Officers on scene provided medical care until EMS arrived. The Warrick EMS discovered White had succumbed to his injuries and the Warrick County coroner was called to the scene.

No officers were injured.

White was wanted in Warrick County on charges of dealing methamphetamine. Warrick County Sheriff Deputies began a vehicle pursuit Tuesday, June 21st, evening. Deputies report White fired shots before fleeing from his vehicle into a nearby wooded area in Lynnville.

On Wednesday night, a deputy located White near Cutter road and confronted him. White would fire a shot, which is not believed to be intended at the deputy. Warrick County would set up a perimeter around where they believed him to be at.

The investigation is ongoing. Once concluded, the findings will be turned over to the Warrick County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
