Rick Chambers Marks 10 Years with Dubois County Prosecutor’s Office

He’s already retired from a lengthy career in law enforcement, but Rick Chambers isn’t done serving his community just yet.

Dubois County officials recently honored Chambers for a decade of dedicated service with the prosecutor’s office. This is only part of the forty-one years that he has spent in public service. He had significant law enforcement experience before his current position. Chambers retired from his detective sergeant role with the Jasper Police Department in December 2015 after a twenty-eight-year career with the JPD. Prior to that, he served in the Martin County Sheriff’s Department after graduating from Vincennes University with an associate degree in law enforcement, conservation.

County Prosecutor Beth Schroeder described Chambers’ years of experience as invaluable. During an investigation, he assists in reviewing all of the body cams, compiling them and preparing them to be entered into discovery. If there are any issues to address or followup with an officer is necessary, Chambers would contact them to obtain any required information. He also talks to victims or witnesses as needed. Schroeder said, “Anytime we have a big case, Rick's instrumental and he's always right there to help.”

Chambers was presented with a 10-year service award, honoring him for his continued contributions to public safety. He responded, “I just appreciate the opportunity to work here. I work with quality people, which makes it a lot easier… when you work around quality people such as Beth and really the whole office staff.” Chambers’ legacy is clear: a steadfast commitment to justice, quiet leadership, and a career defined not by titles, but by service.
