Pekin Man Dies in Head-On Crash
Monday, December 15, 2025: Donald L. Floyd, 65, of Pekin, was killed in a head-on crash on State Road 135 Monday morning.
Around 9:45 Monday morning, the Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two- vehicle crash on SR 135 between Purlee Road and Vincennes Trail Road, approximately five miles south of Salem. After arriving on the scene, officers requested Indiana State Police crash reconstruction officers to continue the investigation.
Preliminary findings indicate a red 2005 Ford Focus driven by Donald Floyd was southbound on SR135 south of Purlee Road when it crossed over the centerline, striking a silver, 2023 Chevrolet Silverado head-on. The Silverado was northbound and driven by sixty-four-year-old Brian A. Churchill of Depauw, Indiana. Donald Floyd was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Washington County Coroner. Churchill was transported by personal vehicle to an area hospital for minor injuries. The drivers were the sole occupants of each vehicle.
This investigation is ongoing and toxicology reports are pending.
