Patoka Lake beach advisory

Patoka Lake routinely monitors blue-green algae and E. coli levels for the safety of our visitors to our beach during the swimming season. While blue-green algae is common in Indiana waterways, high levels of algae can negatively impact the water quality for recreationalists and swimmers.

Under a Beach Advisory, swimming and boating is still permitted and the swim beach will remain open, but swimmers should take the following precautions if you are visiting Patoka Lake: -

Avoid contact with algae
- Avoid swallowing water while swimming
- Take a bath or shower with warm soapy water after coming in contact with lake water
- Do not use lake water for cooking or bathing
- Do not allow your pets to swim in or drink water where algae is present
