DUBOIS COUNTY -- Strong storms moved through the area overnight, knocking out power to thousands in our area and sparking an attic fire.

A lightning strike is being blamed for that fire this morning in the 900 block of North Evergreen Drive.  There were people in the home at the time but they got out ok.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and the family was able to go back inside the residence.  Crews were on the scene for about 45 minutes.

The wild weather knocked out power to thousands of Vectren customers early this morning in southern portions of Dubois County and other areas from here to Evansville.

One of our listeners in Holland reported the outage to us around 7 a.m.  He updated us his power was back on around 9:30 this morning.
