Ostomy Support Group of Southern Indiana to Meet February 1

Daviess Community Hospital is pleased to host the Ostomy Support Group of Southern Indiana, a peer-led support group dedicated to individuals living with an ostomy or preparing for ostomy surgery. The group meets on the first Sunday of every month at 2 p.m. at the hospital, providing a welcoming and supportive environment for those navigating life with an ostomy.

The next meeting will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2026.

In addition to in-person attendance, a virtual option via Zoom is available for those who are unable to attend onsite. Individuals interested in joining virtually may email [email protected] to receive Zoom meeting information.

The Ostomy Support Group offers peer-to-peer connections, allowing individuals to share experiences, ask questions, and receive encouragement from others who understand the challenges and lifestyle adjustments that come with an ostomy. Friends and family members are also invited to attend, helping to build a strong support system for participants.

“This group provides a safe space for individuals to connect with others who truly understand their journey,” said Tracy Dlamini, MSN, RN, CWON, Wound Care Program Director at Daviess Community Hospital. “Living with an ostomy can be an adjustment, but with education, support, and community, individuals can lead full and active lives. The presence of a certified Wound, Ostomy, and Continence (WOC) nurse at the meetings ensures attendees receive accurate information and professional guidance in addition to the invaluable support of their peers.”

The Ostomy Support Group of Southern Indiana is open to all individuals living with an ostomy, as well as those preparing for ostomy surgery. The group fosters a friendly, understanding, and informative atmosphere to help attendees gain confidence in managing their condition.
