Multi-Agency Cooperation results in Arrest of Texas Man
A man wanted in Texas was arrested in southern Indiana following a coordinated effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies.
On February 11, 2026, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Nelson County, Kentucky, Sheriff’s Department contacted the Indiana State Police dispatch center regarding a stolen Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck believed to have entered southern Indiana from Kentucky on Interstate 64. Authorities reported that the truck had been stolen from a residence in Nelson County, Kentucky, along with several firearms. Kentucky authorities further advised that they believed the vehicle was driven by 33-year-old Dakota Wade Dixon of New Home, Texas.
Based on this information, troopers initiated a search of New Albany area hotels and businesses and alerted enforcement agents with the Indiana Gaming Commission (IGC) at Caesars Southern Indiana Casino in Harrison County. Shortly thereafter, IGC agents located the truck in a parking garage and notified troopers who responded to the scene.
Working in conjunction with IGC agents, troopers located Dixon as he was exiting the casino and took him into custody without incident. An inventory search of the stolen truck revealed four handguns and a lever-action rifle allegedly stolen in Kentucky. Dixon was arrested on a Texas arrest warrant for felony criminal tax evasion and has local charges of Possession of a Stolen Vehicle - a Level 6 Felony, and Unlawful Carry of a Firearm by a Felon - a Level 5 Felony. Dixon was then incarcerated at the Harrison County Jail, where he will appear on the local charges before being extradited.
