Memorial Medical Center Foundation Announces 2026 Scholarship Recipients
The Memorial Medical Center Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of its 2026 scholarship program, recognizing outstanding students and healthcare professionals committed to advancing their education and serving their communities.
Memorial Medical Center Foundation Scholarships
The Tonya Heim Nursing Scholarship ($2,500), awarded to a current Deaconess Memorial Medical Center (DMMC) nurse pursuing advanced education, was presented to Blake Wiseman. Blake has been a nurse at DMMC since 2021, currently works in the emergency department, and is pursuing his Doctorate of Nursing Practice at Indiana State University.
The Lou Jerger Memorial Healthcare Scholarship ($2,000) was awarded to Haley Pund, daughter of Mark and Jamie Pund. Haley is a senior at Forest Park High School and plans to major in Exercise Science at the University of Evansville.
The Kathleen M. Tempel Nursing Scholarships ($2,500 each) were awarded to Maeli Stoll, daughter of Shawn and Audrey Stoll, and Lily Saypharath, daughter of Tony and Linh Trinh Saypharath. Maeli is a senior at Barr-Reeve High School and plans to attend Vincennes University. Lily is a senior at Jasper High School and plans to attend the University of Southern Indiana. Both plan to major in Nursing.
The Bethany Volz Medical Staff Scholarship ($1,500) was awarded to Mason Winter, son of Darren and Emily Winter. Mason is a senior at Perry Central High School and plans to major in Pharmacy at Indiana University.
The Deaconess Memorial Medical Staff Scholarships ($1,000 each) are awarded to high school seniors who are dependents of DMMC caregivers:
- Payton Campbell, daughter of Zach and Miranda Campbell. Payton is a senior at Jasper High School and plans to major in Architecture at Ball State University.
- Tryp Verkamp, son of Jason and Shawna Verkamp. Tryp is a senior at Northeast Dubois High School and plans to major in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southern Indiana.
The Foundation awarded eight $1,000 scholarships to students across the DMMC service area:
The Memorial Medical Center Auxiliary Magy Clark Volunteer Scholarship awarded two $1,000 recipients in recognition of volunteer service:
In partnership with the Dubois County Community Foundation, the following scholarships were awarded:Doris A. Ackerman and Family Nursing Scholarship ($1,200): Mya Wehr, daughter of Luke and Jill Wehr, a senior at Forest Park High School, will major in Nursing at Vincennes University Jasper.
Mabel L. Kuebler Nursing Endowment Scholarships ($2,200 each): Caitlyn Frick, daughter of Jacob and Angie Frick, a 2023 Southridge High School graduate currently studying Nursing at the University of Evansville; and Maya Anderson, daughter of Angie Anderson and Jeremy Anderson, a senior at Southridge High School who plans to major in Nursing at Western Kentucky University.
- Crawford County: Logan Wolf, daughter of Jason and TJ Wolf, a senior at Crawford County High School, plans to major in Radiation Therapy at Western Kentucky University.
- Daviess County: Janae Graber, daughter of Jason and Christina Graber, a senior at Barr-Reeve High School, plans to major in Nursing at the University of Southern Indiana.
- Dubois County: Avari Schneider, daughter of Brett and Becky Schneider, a 2024 Forest Park High School graduate, is currently studying Nursing at Western Kentucky University.
- Martin County: Kenley Shaw, daughter of Benjamin and Kellie Shaw, a 2025 Shoals High School graduate, is currently attending the University of Southern Indiana, majoring in Radiologic and Imaging Services.
- Orange County: Jacelyn Hess, daughter of Cory and Samantha Hess, a senior at Orleans High School, plans to major in Nursing at Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington.
- Pike County: Madison Heim, daughter of Ryan and Amy Young and the late Craig Heim, a 2023 Jasper High School graduate, is currently majoring in Nursing at the University of Southern Indiana.
- Perry County: Alyssa Rogier, daughter of Jeffery and Erin Rogier, a senior at Perry Central High School, plans to major in Nursing at the University of Southern Indiana.
- Spencer County: Rebecca Heeke, daughter of Adam and Cassandra Heeke, a senior at Heritage Hills High School, plans to major in Exercise Science at the University of Evansville.

Mildred E. Schwinghammer Nursing Scholarship ($2,000): Addison Schneider, daughter of Brett and Becky Schneider, a senior at Forest Park High School, plans to major in Nursing at Purdue University.
Sue Strange and Amy Todd Healthcare Scholarship ($2,000 annually): Adelyn Sergent, daughter of Richard and Stacy Sergent, a 2025 Loogootee High School graduate, is currently majoring in Nursing at Vincennes University Jasper.
Tom and Sue Strange & Amy and Patrick Todd Family Healthcare Scholarship ($2,000 annually): Ava Jones, daughter of Aaron and Andrea Jones, a 2024 Shoals High School graduate, is attending Vincennes University Jasper and studying Nursing.
