Martin County Approves Comprehensive Plan

The Martin County Board of Commissioners gave the green light to the new comprehensive plan. 

A public hearing was opened to discuss the Martin County Comprehensive Plan. The plan summary was reviewed in detail, with special attention given to changes that have been made over the past year. With no public comments, the Martin County Comprehensive Plan was approved. 

Highway bids were accepted, excluding the Civil Con for concrete box culverts. The county is still searching for a mechanic and a driver, and some equipment needs repair. A financial commitment letter for the Highway Safety Program Improvement Grant Application. The program is a 90/10 match, with the county’s portion of the project totaling $10,000. 

As of July 1, resulting from changes to Indiana law, the Commissioners had to decide if they would like to move some items to the general fund. After discussion. they chose to leave things structured as they have been historically. 
 
The Shoals Beautification Board requested permission to store potting soil at the Recycling Center. A decision was delayed, with a request for more information, including the amount of soil being purchased. 

The board voted to amend the claims and allowances for an additional appropriation. An overpayment of $1626 in incentive funds for the Prosecutor’s Office needs to be returned to DCS. 

In other business, the board approved the Martin County Food Establishment Bed and Breakfast for the Health Department, Supervision and Inspection Ordinance. The Courthouse will also be closed from 11—1 on December 11 for the Annual German American Bank Employee Christmas dinner.
