Knox Life launches scholarship fund at Vincennes University to support Oakland City University students

In an effort to support Oakland City University undergraduate students during an unexpected academic transition, the Knox Life Community Improvement Team, a nonprofit arm of Knox County Indiana Economic Development, has stepped forward and initiated a strategic gift to Vincennes University.

These newly established funds will serve as dedicated scholarships for OCU students impacted following OCU’s recent announcement of a one-year cease of operations for its undergraduate programs during the upcoming 2026-27 academic year.

Knox Life’s contribution will enable VU to offer a limited number of scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,000 to affected students seeking to continue their higher education without interruption.

OCU students should apply at vinu.edu/apply

VU Director of Admissions Sarah McLin said, "Vincennes University is incredibly grateful to the Knox Life Community Improvement Team for establishing this important fund and for their partnership in supporting students as they pursue their academic goals. This effort is a powerful reminder that we're stronger together, and that when our community comes together to invest in students, we can help create opportunities that have a lasting impact on their futures."

VU has extended the deadline to apply for the $1,500 Housing Scholarship to all current and incoming OCU students, to July 1. After OCU students are admitted, they can apply for on-campus housing for the fall semester. More information is available at vinu.edu/housing-and-residential life.

VU also offers a scholarship providing in-state tuition rates to residents of Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, and Ohio, helping make a quality education more affordable.
