Juvenile Charged in Auto Theft Spree

On September 18, 2026, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Daviess County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 5500 block of Pleasant Valley Road after a homeowner reported that an intruder had entered their residence earlier that morning and had fled the area after being discovered. Once deputies were on scene, the homeowner also reported that a Scag zero-turn mower had been stolen from the property.

During the course of the investigation, deputies identified a 17-year-old juvenile who resides in the Maceo area as the primary suspect. He was located, detained and advised of his Miranda rights and during questioning, admitted to being inside the residence earlier that morning. He also admitted that he had used a stolen four-wheeler to travel to the residence.The juvenile was transported to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office for further questioning and through additional investigation and the collection of evidence, he was charged with the theft and damages of two vehicles in the 3900 block of South Hampton Road, as well as the theft and damaging of an additional vehicle in the 3200 block of South Hampton Road. The stolen Scag zero-turn mower from the Pleasant Valley Road residence was also located on South Hampton Road.During the next few days, detectives with the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office General Investigations Unit continued the investigation and developed additional evidence linking the juvenile to multiple other vehicle thefts that had occurred throughout eastern Daviess County over the past several months. Most of the thefts were in the Maceo area. On September 22, the juvenile was charged with these thefts as well, and additional charges are possible as the investigation continues. All evidence collected during the investigation was logged and submitted to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office Evidence Unit. The juvenile was transported to and lodged in the Warren County Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
