Jeffersonville Man Arrested on Felony Perjury and Counterfeiting Charges

February 26, 2026: A former Clark County Probation Department employee has been arrested following an Indiana State Police (ISP) investigation into allegations of providing false information on his employment application.

Michael Craig Kirby, 51, Jeffersonville, was hired in August 2025 for the position of Clark County Probation Addiction Treatment and Support Case Manager after submitting an online application and resume on July 10, 2025.

Due to concerns regarding Kirby’s qualifications which surfaced after his employment, Clark County officials contacted the Indiana State Police.  ISP Detective Rob Caudill  conducted an investigation and determined that Kirby allegedly provided false information regarding his education, prior law enforcement employment, and military service history. The investigation also revealed that claimed degrees from Austin Peay State University were not awarded and appear fabricated.

As a result of the investigation, Detective Caudill obtained probable cause to believe that Kirby knowingly and intentionally submitted false and inaccurate information and documentation about his education, employment history, and work experience on his July 10, 2025, application for employment with Clark County government, despite affirming that the information was true and correct.

An arrest warrant was then issued by the Clark County Circuit Court charging Kirby with perjury, a Level 6 felony, and counterfeiting, a Level 6 felony.

Indiana State Police troopers arrested Kirby at his residence Thursday morning without incident. He was transported to the Clark County Jail, where he is being held on a $10,000 bond. Jeffersonville Police Department officers assisted troopers during the arrest.
