Jasper Man Arrested for Drunk Driving, Fleeing after hitting Retaining Wall

Jasper - A Jasper man has been arrested for driving drunk and fleeing the scene of an accident after a Monday morning incident.


According to Jasper Police, a tip reporting a collision and potential drunk driver was reported by an individual located at a local business in the 1400 block on Newton Street.

After Gabriel Majak, 43, allegedly fled the scene of the initial run-in with a retaining wall, police were able to track him down. The police report also states that at some point during the incident, Majak struck a house with his vehicle.

Majak was transported for a chemical test, that police say checked in with a .293 blood alcohol content (BAC) level - nearly four times the .08 legal limit.

Majak has been charged with four counts, including: OWI with Prior Conviction, OWI Endangerment, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
