Jasper Economic Development Commission Elects Officers for 2026
On Wednesday morning, the Jasper Economic Development Commission assembled for their
first meeting of the year.
The Commission approved the minutes from the last meeting, held on December 10, 2025. The
board then welcomed Ryan Kramer to his first meeting as a member of the EDC. Kramer
replaced outgoing member Mike Pfau, who served on the board since 2022.
The primary agenda item for the day was the election of 2026 officers. Having fulfilled the role
in the past, Mark Schmidt volunteered to serve as Secretary again. City Attorney Renee Kabrick
reminded the board that the Secretary needs to be available whenever signatures are
necessary. Schmidt confirmed that he would be in attendance at all of the meetings and could
be available when necessary.
After a brief discussion, member Julie Dutchess made a motion to retain the previous slate of
officers, replacing previous member Mike Pfau with Mark Schmidt in the role of Secretary. For
2026, Andrew Seger will continue to serve as President, and Kurt Vonderheide will continue as
Vice President. Mark Schmidt was elected as Secretary. Julie Dutchess will remain on the board,
and Ryan Kramer will fill the vacancy left by Mike Pfau.
Josh Gunselman, Director of Community Development and Planning, told the board that there
were no economic development projects ready for discussion at this time. While there were no
new business items, Gunselman provided an update that the revisions on the city’s
Comprehensive Plan are almost complete. On Saturday, April 25 from 9-11 am at the River
Center, there will be an open house for the public to view and comment on the Draft
Comprehensive Plan and Draft Land Use Map.
The next regular meeting of the EDC is scheduled for July 8.
