Jasper Chamber of Commerce Strengthens Business and Community Ties

From ribbon cuttings to new business resources, the Jasper Chamber of Commerce is powering progress.

The stated mission of the Jasper Chamber of Commerce is “to be the catalyst that provides direction, information, resources, connections, and networks in the community in order for businesses to succeed, grow, and prosper.” Partnerships with other organizations assist the two-person staff in that goal. The organization has about 385 members, representing about 18,000 employees.

The Chamber presented its 2025 report, detailing some of the highlights of the last year. The organization communicates through informational emails to members and the community, newsletter mailing, and newcomer packets often used by real estate agents. They provide a list of local job postings for job seekers, which has been very successful. There were 1.3 million impressions on the Chamber’s website, and they have 2,000 followers on their Facebook page. They participate in live segments on WITZ and WPDC every two months.

Last year, the Chamber held 30 ribbon cuttings. Other notable events included 3 Coffee and Conversations with Mayor Vanderhyde and a reception for Governor and Mrs. Braun. They hosted 2 state legislative previews and 2 public health screenings. They offered 4 sessions of Women Empowering Women and co-hosted a Regional Women’s Conference. They produced the annual Health and Lifestyle Expo, which will offer even more vendors this year. At their annual meeting in November, Governor Braun and the State’s Entrepreneur and Innovation Department head led discussions about Indiana entrepreneurship.

In addition to paper shredding and promotion of the new pool, the Chamber also implemented the Dubois County Small Business Resource Center. Through funding from the Indiana Small Business Development Center (ISBDC), they hired Ken Schnus as a business advisor, who provides counseling sessions and business plan reviews. The Center provides information on marketing, AI usage, and many other tools for small business owners.

Their Patoka 2000 Committee is planning a tree planting this year in honor of the country’s 250 th anniversary. The Chamber is also part of America’s 250, a countywide committee. There will be a patriotic party on July 2 at Jaycee Park, open to Jasper as well as all of Dubois County and any others who wish to attend.
