Jasper Arts and Dubois County Pride Partner for Community Pride Month Art Installation
Jasper Arts and Dubois County Pride are proud to once again partner on a collaborative community art installation celebrating Pride Month 2026.
Titled “In Every Storm, We Shine,” the exhibit highlights the creativity, resilience, and voices of the local community through a large-scale immersive installation located in the Black Box Theater at the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center.
The installation features an eight-foot found-object umbrella designed by local artist Curtis Uebelhor, alongside an original soundscape engineered by Jasper Arts intern Jade Darding featuring community voices. Additional elements of the exhibit were created by local volunteers of all ages, reflecting the collective spirit of inclusion and artistic expression that inspired the project.
The exhibit will officially open during Jasper’s First Thursday celebration on Thursday, June 4, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and will remain on display through Sunday, June 28. The installation will be showcased alongside artwork by Evansville sculptor Christina Zimmer Robinson. Community members are invited to attend the opening reception, experience the installation, and celebrate Pride Month together throughout June.
This partnership between Jasper Arts and Dubois County Pride was developed with several shared community goals in mind, including fostering cultural enrichment, encouraging belonging, celebrating creative expression, and highlighting Dubois County as an inclusive and welcoming place for all people.
“In Every Storm, We Shine” serves as both a celebration of Pride Month and a reflection of the power of community collaboration. Organizers hope the exhibit will encourage meaningful connection, conversation, and visibility while affirming the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center as a welcoming gathering space for all residents and visitors.
Dubois County Pride also reminds the community that the annual Dubois County Pride Festival will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Jasper Riverwalk/Dave Buehler Plaza. The festival will continue the organization’s mission of building connection, support, visibility, and celebration throughout the region.
