ISP RESPONDS TO SNOW-RELATED CALLS TO SERVICE
Troopers from the Bloomington District worked throughout Thursday evening and Friday morning taking calls to service related to snowfall in the Bloomington area.
The Bloomington District received 11 calls to service that included two (2) slide-offs, four (4) assist motorists, three (3) property-damage crashes, and one (1) personal-injury crash. Troopers also investigated a wrong-way driver on I-69 in Greene County that resulted in the arrest of the driver for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) Operating While Intoxicated Endangerment, Neglect of a Dependent, as there was a minor child in the vehicle, and Reckless Driving. The minor child’s custody was transferred to the grandparents.
ISP recommends that Hoosier motorists be prepared for extremely low temperatures this time of year, especially for the approaching weekend. The National Weather Service predicts a low of 10 degrees Fahrenheit for the Bloomington area on Sunday, December 14th. With this type of weather, AAA and the Indiana State Police note the following items should be placed in your vehicle as an emergency winter kit:
- A sturdy ice scraper and brush (Do not use a credit card as a scraper)
- Gloves, hats and blankets
- A bag of abrasive material like rock salt, sand, or cat litter
- A portable cell phone charger
- An emergency contact list
- Jump cables or a battery-powered jump pack
- Snacks
- A first aid kit
The Indiana State Police Bloomington Post thanks all Hoosier motorists who exercised caution and patience during the inclement weather.
