INDIANA STATE POLICE ARRESTS MAN FOR POSSESSION OF CHILD SEX ABUSE MATERIAL

Members of the Indiana State Police’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit and with assistance from the Loogootee Police Department arrested a Loogootee man for possession of child sex abuse material involving bestiality, a level 5 felony.   

Trevor Moffatt, a 32-year-old male from Loogootee was arrested Tuesday, March 31st, following the execution of a residential search warrant.

Detective Robert Whyte initiated the investigation in February 2026, after receiving a National Center for Missing and Exploited Children cyber tip alleging criminal activity. The cyber tip was provided by a social media/cloud application alleging that a user had been uploading Child Sex Abuse Material. Legal process was obtained and the allegations in the cyber tip were confirmed. A suspect in Loogootee was also identified. A residential search warrant to collect and examine electronic devices was requested through the Martin County Prosecutors Office. It was served successfully by ISP Detectives and Loogootee Police Officers. An interview with Mr. Moffat was conducted. After the interview and seizure of the devices, Moffatt was placed under arrest and transported to the Martin County Sheriffs Department. Mr. Moffatt was charged with the following:
  • 1 count of Possession of Child Sex Abuse Material (files depicting bestiality), a level 5 Felony
Forensic examinations of the devices are still being completed. Additional charges are pending.

The Indiana ICAC Task Force is a multiagency task force that investigates and prosecutes people who use the internet to exploit or entice children sexually. The Indiana State Police oversees the task force.
