Indiana State Police Arrest Georgetown Man on Drug, Firearm and Theft Charges

An Indiana State Police trooper arrested a Georgetown man Thursday afternoon following a traffic stop in Floyd County that led to the discovery of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a stolen license plate and a handgun. 
 
Trooper Newton initiated the stop around 2:55 p.m. on Daisy Lane after recognizing a green Honda Accord belonging to Chad Steven Farnsley, 52, of Georgetown. Trooper Newton was aware Farnsley had active arrest warrants out of Harrison County for probation violations related to drug charges, which ISP Dispatch confirmed as valid during the stop. Farnsley complied with commands during a felony stop and was taken into custody without incident. Trooper Ryne McMahel arrived to assist. During the stop and subsequent investigation, troopers discovered suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a license plate reported stolen in New Albany in November 2025, and a handgun with ammunition. 
 
Farnsley faces the following preliminary charges stemming from the incident: 
• Possession of methamphetamine (5 grams or more) with enhancement, Level 4 felony 
• Possession of a handgun as a convicted felon, Level 5 felony 
• Theft with prior conviction, Level 6 felony 
• Habitual offender, Level 6 felony 
• Possession of marijuana, Class B misdemeanor 
• Possession of paraphernalia, Class C misdemeanor 

 Chad Farnsley was transported to the Floyd County Jail without incident.
