Indiana Child Safety Call-In Day Mobilizes Communities to Advocate for Stronger Protections for Children

Parents, caregivers, advocates, and nonprofit leaders from across the state are invited to participate in Indiana Child Safety Call-In Day on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 12:00– 4:00 PM at Chicory Cafe (114 W 1st Street, Mishawaka, IN). Virtual participation options are also available. RSVP is required by January 25th.

Indiana Child Safety Call-In Day is a statewide advocacy action designed to mobilize community voices in support of meaningful child safety legislation. Participants will be provided with guidance, talking points, and resources to engage directly with lawmakers and decision-makers. “When we raise our voices for children, we remind them, and our lawmakers, that their lives matter. This call-in day is about showing up with love, urgency, and accountability for every child in Indiana,” expressed lead organizer Rachel Van Alstine.

This year’s advocacy priorities include House Bill 1093 & House Bill 1107 (attached):
1. Updating Indiana’s bullying definition to better protect students in all school environments
2. Establishing consistent checks and balances across school districts to ensure child safety laws are enforced
3. Improving communication between schools and the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) to prevent children from falling through the cracks

Lunch will be provided from 12:00–1:00 PM for in-person attendees who RSVP.

A Movement Rooted in Prevention, Healing, and Accountability
These events are part of the broader Indiana Child Safety Campaign, a movement grounded in the belief that children deserve safety, dignity, and support, before harm occurs, not after. By pairing creative truth-telling with legislative advocacy, organizers aim to build sustainable, community-driven solutions that protect children and families statewide.
