Huntingburg Parks Committee Review Event Applications and Facility Updates

The Huntingburg Parks committee reviewed several special event applications and provided updates on various park facilities and operations.

The discussion began with the Daffodil Stroll, which will feature an egg hunt hosted by Destination Huntingburg. To ensure the safety of children participating in the egg hunt, specific roads will be temporarily closed for about one hour. The committee agreed to charge the nonprofit rate for the event.

Next, organizers of the Latino Festival, scheduled for the first weekend of September, requested the use of the entire Market Street Park and the Old Town Hall. While the full rental rate was initially suggested, the committee proposed a compromise. They will allow the festival to utilize Old Town Hall at the nonprofit rate while charging half the regular fee for the Market Street Park.

Looking ahead, the committee approved the Softball Opening Day, planned for April 18, without any associated fees, recognizing the group's positive contributions to the community.

In addition to event discussions, the committee reviewed changes to pool pricing. Ticket book prices will increase, and entry fees will now include modifications regarding young children. To help with operational costs, the committee also approved the introduction of advertisements on the pool's fences.

Updates on park facilities revealed significant progress on a new pickleball court and ongoing renovations to the playground. Additionally, efforts are underway to secure the dog park with a new locking system to ensure user safety.

The next meeting of the committee is scheduled for April 20, where further developments in community parks and events will be discussed.
