Have Breakfast with a Forester!

The Four Rivers Forestry Committee invites you to have breakfast with a forester on Friday, March 22 from 8:00 to 10:00 AM EDT at Stoll’s Lakeside Restaurant, on SR 231 North of Loogootee. New IDNR District Forester Eric McDonald will be present. McDonald serves landowners in Daviess, Dubois, Martin, and Knox Counties; landowners from those counties are encouraged to stop by and meet him. Consultant foresters, Purdue Extension foresters, and other IDNR foresters will be present as well. Bring your friends and neighbors to this informal gathering, and discuss issues you may be having in your forests.

The foresters will be available for conversation and questions between 8:00 and 10:00 AM EDT. Everyone is welcome to join the conversation. There will be no charge, other than paying for the breakfast you order. Reservations are encouraged. Contact the Dubois County Soil and Water Conservation District at (812) 482-1171 Ext. 3, or [email protected] to make your reservation.

District Foresters from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources' Division of Forestry are professionally trained to manage forestland. A District Forester can help you start the management of your forested land by visiting your woods and recommending a best course of action to meet your goals. The foresters administer both state and federal programs that provide technical assistance, property tax incentives, and cost-sharing incentives for sustainable management. There is no cost associated with the services of a District Forester.

A consulting forester assists forest landowners in managing and maintaining a healthy and productive forest ecosystem, while providing a sustainable supply of high-quality hardwood timber from their forest. Consultant foresters provide professional forestry services, and their fees are paid for by the landowners who hire them.

The ‘Breakfast with a Forester’ events are sponsored by the Four Rivers Forestry Committee. A variety of foresters, including the IDNR District Foresters, Purdue Extension foresters, industry, and consulting foresters will be present at the breakfasts, depending on the month. Locations will vary. Call (812) 482-1171 Ext. 3 with questions.
