Gov. Braun to Replace SNAP Benefits for Residents in Disaster Area Counties
Indiana Governor Mike Braun has taken decisive action to support Hoosiers recovering from recent disasters. Earlier this month, Gov. Braun directed the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) to apply for an Automated Mass Replacement waiver through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Administration. FSSA received federal approval on September 17, 2026.
Additionally, the Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) is funding an additional 30 days of emergency hotel vouchers through the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA). This extension will ensure displaced Hoosiers have more time to recover and will be largely funded by FEMA under the Public Assistance Program.
“Hoosiers impacted by these disasters deserve support without added hurdles. This streamlined assistance will help families replace lost SNAP benefits and give displaced Hoosiers more time and resources to recover.” - Governor Mike Braun
