Four-Vehicle Crash Results in One Airlifted Patient
On Thursday, March 17 th at approximately 5:27 pm, Daviess
County emergency crews responded to a 4-vehicle crash near Whitesville at the intersection of
Highway 54 and Karns Grove Road involving a white Honda Odyssey, a Chevrolet Silverado, a
Mitsubishi Mirage, a gray Honda Odyssey.
The initial investigation indicates that the driver of the Mitsubishi Mirage was stopped in the
eastbound lane of State Road 54, waiting to turn left onto Karns Grove Road, when it was struck
from behind by the gray Honda Odyssey. The impact pushed the Mirage into the westbound
lanes of traffic, where it was struck by the white Honda Odyssey. Moments later, the black
Chevrolet Silverado collided with the driver’s side of the Mirage from the eastbound lane.
Emergency crews arrived on scene performed a mechanical extrication of the driver of the
Mitsubishi Mirage, who was then transported by helicopter to Deaconess Midway Hospital with
serious injuries.
The driver of the white Honda Odyssey reported minor injuries.
The drivers of the Chevrolet
Silverado and the gray Honda Odyssey reported no injuries.
A total of four vehicles and four individuals were involved in the crash. The incident remains
under investigation.
The roadway was closed for approximately an hour and a half while crews cleared the scene.
Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, Whitesville Fire Department, Daviss County Fire Department,
AMR Ambulance, and Air Evac medical helicopter all responded to the crash.
