First Brand Chapter 11 Case Including Jasper Rubber Heads Toward Final Approval
A new filing in the First Brands Group bankruptcy case has moved the company and its
holdings, including Jasper Rubber, one step closer to emerging from Chapter 11 reorganization.
On June 15, 2026, a bankruptcy court notice was filed in the ongoing Chapter 11 bankruptcy
proceedings for First Brands Group and its affiliated companies. The notice, filed June 15 in the
U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, notified creditors and other interested
parties that the court has conditionally approved the company's disclosure statement,
authorized solicitation of creditor votes on its proposed reorganization plan, and scheduled a
July 28 confirmation hearing. The document also established the schedule for creditors to vote
and object before the plan is considered for final confirmation.
The filing is largely procedural, but also represents another significant milestone in the
bankruptcy. Conditional approval of the disclosure statement means the court has determined
creditors have enough information to evaluate the proposed restructuring. The next major step
is the July 28 confirmation hearing, where the court will determine whether the reorganization
plan can take effect. Although many First Brands assets have already been sold, including the
proposed sale of Jasper Rubber's assets, the broader Chapter 11 case is advancing toward
confirmation of the company's overall restructuring plan.
The court conditionally approved the disclosure statement on June 12. The disclosure
statement is used to explain the proposed Chapter 11 plan to creditors before they vote. The
confirmation hearing, which will decide whether to approve the reorganization plan, is
scheduled for July 28, 2026, at 9 a.m. Central Time. The Honorable Christopher M. Lopez,
United States Bankruptcy Judge, will hear the case in the Bankruptcy Court for the Southern
District of Texas in Courtroom 401, 4th Floor, at 515 Rusk Street in Houston, Texas.
Creditors eligible to vote on the plan must do so based on claims held as of June 15, 2026, the
voting record date. The filing establishes procedures and deadlines for submitting ballots
regarding the reorganization plan, objecting to plan confirmation, participating in an
administrative expense claims consent program, and opting into a preference settlement
program for qualifying trade creditors. The notice applies to First Brands Group and dozens of
affiliated debtors, including Jasper Rubber Products Inc., which remains part of the jointly
administered bankruptcy cases.
