Ferdinand Municipal Appointments for 2026 Confirmed as Don Foerster is Remembered

As the annual business of confirming municipal appointments was underway, a friend and devoted public servant was noticeably absent. Don Foerster, described as “an integral part of the town of Ferdinand for 40 years,” passed away on December 2.

Becoming a member of the Board of Zoning Appeals and Plan Commission in 1985, Foerster continued to accept increasing responsibilities for both organizations. He took on these duties in addition to his growing family and work with other organizations. As his health began to limit him, he would attend via Zoom, as recently as last month. Town Council President Ken Sicard said, “Don was truly dedicated to making Ferdinand better…we will miss that man.”

Looking to follow the extraordinary example of their friend and colleague, municipal appointments for the town of Ferdinand are as follows:

Redevelopment Commission Members have 1-year terms, with the exception of the nonvoting school board member. Three members are appointed by the Town Council President. Ken Sicard, Debbie Johnson, and Ron Weyer have agreed to serve another term. Two members are appointed by the Town Council. Current members Tammy Miller and Dan Collignon were reappointed to a second term.

Beverly Schulthise was again appointed as Indiana 15 Representative, having served in the role for many years.

The Park board has a vacancy, and the appointee will be named later. On the Economic Development Commission, the County Council accepted the nomination of Dan Collignon and appointed him to another term.

Mark Dilger agreed to another term on the Plan Commission, which also appointed him as their representative on the Board of Zoning Appeals.

On the Board of Zoning Appeals, Mark Dilger also agreed to another term.

The passing of Don Foerster left an unfilled vacancy on both the Plan Commission and the Board of Zoning Appeals. Kyle Lechner agreed to finish that term, which ends next year on 12/31/26. Rob Randall was appointed to the Dubois County 911 Advisory Board.
