Ferdinand Heimatfest Opens Friday Evening

Ferdinand - After a year lost to due to the coronavirus pandemic, Ferdinand's Heimatfest kicks off at 5:00 p.m. Friday and continues Saturday, June 19th.


Beginning this evening at its new location, the Ferdinand Community Center, the beer garden will open and there will be various kids games in the Best Home Furnishing Fun Zone. Event Organizer Neil Weyer, volunteers and attendees are just glad to be back.

"It's just an exciting feeling, we're looking forward to seeing all of the people, it always makes our day when we see the crowd get here at 5 o'clock in the evening and then see it start fill out at night," Weyer said. "We're looking forward to the great entertainment tonight with Studebaker presented by Jasper Engines, and Keep on Trail will open for them."

Among the great food options are homemade ice cream sandwiches prepared by the Sisters of St. Benedict.

"Very delicious ice cream sandwiches," Weyer said. "We encourage everybody to get down here and support the sisters because they go quick, they're very good."

The Ferdinand Heimatfest opens at 5:00 p.m. Friday evening and continues Saturday with events including 3-on-3 basketball.
