Exciting New 4-Person Team Challenge with “Puzzled at Parklands: Quest 4 the Flag”
On Saturday, October 3, DC Multisport is excited to partner with Puzzles and Padlocks Escape Room and the Tri-County YMCA to introduce its newest event, “Puzzled at Parklands: Quest 4 the Flag,” a 4-person team event to complete timed-challenges / puzzles to earn flags as the team races against the clock to get through the course and to the finish.
Designed for friends, families, coworkers, corporate challenges, and community members looking for a fun and active outdoor adventure, this unique team challenge combines problem-solving, teamwork, and physical activity in one exciting event.
Divisions are based on the ages of the participants. The event will be split into these two divisions with a short break between divisions:
- “Elite Division” – 3 or more of the team participants are 16 years of age or older
- “Family Division” – half (2 members) of the team must be younger than 16 years of age and the other half (2 members) of the team must be 16 years or older
“Elite Division” teams will begin the competition in heats starting at 8:00 a.m. ET, while “Family Division” teams will start afterwards, roughly around 10:30 a.m. ET depending on the number of teams in each division. Organizers recommend a starting age of 7 and encourage the younger-aged participants to group with an older team member to navigate the complexity of the challenges when splits occur.
Teams of four will navigate a 1.5-mile course featuring nine challenge locations spread throughout the Parklands. At each stop, participants will complete puzzles, activities, or tasks before continuing their quest to collect flags and reach the finish line. Teams will be split up into groups of two for many of these challenges, come back together in areas as a team of four, then, split apart again. This allows everyone to be integral in each challenge to maximize time efficiency.
The goal is to have the most flags in the least amount of time.
Registration is $60 per team through September 27. Beginning September 28, the registration fee increases to $80 per team. Registration closes at midnight on Thursday, October 1, allowing for organizers to align exact timing of heats and additional preparations.
Participation is limited to 24 teams (roughly 12 teams in each division), so early registration is encouraged.
"This event is all about bringing people together for a morning of fun, teamwork, and friendly competition while supporting a great cause," organizers said. "Whether you're solving puzzles with friends or making memories with your family, there's something for everyone."
To register for the event, teams can sign up online with this url: https://runsignup.com/Race/IN/Jasper/Quest4TheFlag. Otherwise, teams can also drop off and pay in-person at the Dubois County Visitor Center, 248 E. Third Street, Ste C., Jasper, Indiana and save processing fees.
Best of all, 90% of the event proceeds will benefit the Tri-County YMCA, helping support programs and services that strengthen the local community. The remaining 10% goes into the DC Multisport Endowment for future years of charitable gifting.
Volunteers Needed
DC Multisport is also seeking volunteers to help make the event a success. Volunteers will be stationed throughout the course to assist with challenges, direct participants, and encourage teams as they complete the course. Individuals, community groups, and organizations are invited to lend a hand.
For registration information or to volunteer, watch the DC Multisport social media pages for additional details and upcoming announcements.
