Dubois Strong to Host Workforce Retention and Attraction Workshop Wednesday

Attracting and retaining workers.  That’s a big goal this year for Dubois Strong.

The organization will be hosting a Workforce Retention and Attraction Forum on Wednesday at the VU Jasper Campus from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Blair Milo and Pete Yonkman will be the guest speakers.

Blair Milo currently serves as the State of Indiana’s first Secretary for Career Connections and Talent.  Appointed by Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb into the position created by Executive Order in August of 2017, Secretary Milo serves as the state’s Chief Talent Officer as Indiana works to fill an estimated one million job openings over the next ten years. Prior to her appointment to Governor Holcomb’s Cabinet, Secretary Milo served as Mayor of La Porte, Indiana. Milo will talk about how the State of Indiana is: “Building a 21st Century Workforce”

Pete Yonkman is president of Cook Group and Cook Medical in Bloomington, Indiana. Pete joined Cook in 2001 as general counsel and has served in a variety of leadership roles in operations, sales, and marketing during his time with the company. Pete is a lifelong Hoosier who graduated from Indiana University Bloomington with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and philosophy and earned a JD from the Maurer School of Law at Indiana University. Yonkman will focus on: “A Different Approach to Adult Education”

The goal of the event is to inform and provide industries and educators with the tools need to retain and attract workforce to Dubois County.
