Dubois County Health Department Hosting “From Soil to Harvest” Gardening Class

The Dubois County Health Department is excited to announce an upcoming beginner gardening class, From Soil to Harvest: Vegetable Gardening for Beginners, scheduled for March 2026.

Understanding that life can be busy, the Health Department is offering multiple sessions to accommodate different schedules. Sessions will be held:
 March 12 | 6:00–7:00 p.m.
 March 13 | 1:00–2:00 p.m.

Both sessions will take place at the Dubois County Health Department, located at 1187 South Saint Charles Street, Jasper, Indiana.

This educational class is designed to help community members learn the fundamentals of starting and maintaining a successful vegetable garden. Topics will include selecting the proper garden location, choosing beginner-friendly vegetables, basic garden maintenance, and tips for a productive growing season. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions and receive guidance to help them confidently begin their gardening journey.

Thanks to the generous donation from Rural King in Jasper, participants will receive a variety of seed packets to help them get started with their own gardens at home.

The class is open to Dubois County residents ages 10 and up. Due to limited class size, registration is required. Participants are asked to register for only one session to allow as many residents as possible the opportunity to attend.

To reserve your spot, visit www.duboiscountyin.org or call 812-481-7050. For additional information, please contact Mary Peters at [email protected]

For those looking to grow their own fresh produce this season, From Soil to Harvest offers a simple and supportive way to get started.
