Dubois County Airport Authority Announces Ribbon Cutting for New $7.2M Frosty Jones Terminal Building

Described as the new "Welcoming Center to the Most Important Mile of Pavement in the Region," this state-of-the-art facility replaces legacy infrastructure with a modern front door designed to drive local economic growth and support high school aviation education across Southwestern Indiana. 

A 15-Year Vision Built on Strong PartnershipsFifteen years in the planning, the $7.2 million project reflects a strong coalition of federal, state, local, and private investment: 

• Federal Aviation Administration (FAA): $3.8M
• Dubois County Airport Authority: $1.6M
• Dubois County EDIT Funding (Loan): $1.0M 
• Dubois County Council: $500K
• Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT): $187K 
• Regional & Private Donors: Includes $100K from RIF, Inc., $40K from Grow Dubois County, and generous $10,000 contributions from private donors

The total scope includes $1.5 million in site dirt work, a $100,000 building pad, a $5 million terminal structure, a $200,000 parking lot, and a $1.2 million entrance drive. Demonstrating strong local economic impact, 52% of the project contracts were awarded to Dubois County contractors and 48% to regional firms. Highlighted inside the building, terminal furniture was generously donated by renowned local Dubois County companies, including OFS, Kimball, Indiana Furniture, Jasper Group, Dubois Wood, and Best Home Furnishings. 

The terminal is named in honor of Frosty Jones, a Duff, Indiana native who founded the original Huntingburg Airport in 1938. 

The upgraded facility directly supports major corporate tenants—including Kimball, OFS Brands, Jasper Engines, Best Chairs, and MasterBrand—and their global supply chains. Furthermore, the new facility expands classroom and meeting space for the Patoka Valley Career Technical Education Center's STEM program, directly impacting over 175 high school aviation students across 9 school corporations and 5 counties.
