DCH Foundation launches Hoops for Healthcare online auction and announces special guests for March 20 event
The Daviess Community Hospital Foundation will tip off the excitement of its inaugural Hoops for Healthcare event with an online auction beginning at 5 p.m. ET on Friday, March 13, giving community members an early opportunity to support local health care while bidding on a variety of unique items and experiences.
The Hoops for Healthcare online auction will remain open through 9 a.m. ET on Saturday, March 21. Participants may view and place bids at https://givebutter.com/c/HFH26/auction. Angie Steiner, director of the Daviess Community Hospital Foundation, will contact all online auction winners and coordinate pickup or delivery of items on Monday, March 23.
The online auction is part of the Foundation’s broader Hoops for Healthcare event, a full-day March Madness watch party and community fundraiser scheduled for Friday, March 20, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at the National Guard Armory, 500 NE 6th St., Washington.
One of the highlights of the inaugural event will be a special appearance by Indiana University basketball players Anthony Leal and Derek Elston, who will attend the event from 6 to 9 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to meet the players, take photos with them and mingle throughout the evening.
“We are thrilled to welcome Anthony Leal, Derek Elston and other special guests to Hoops for Healthcare,” Steiner said. “For basketball fans across our region, this is an incredible opportunity to interact with Indiana University players while supporting a cause that benefits patients right here at home.”
Steiner said the event is designed to combine the excitement of March Madness with the hospital’s mission to strengthen local health care resources.
“Hoops for Healthcare is about bringing our community together around something people love—basketball—while also making a meaningful investment in the health of our friends and neighbors,” Steiner said. “Every bid in the auction and every sponsorship helps us continue supporting the outstanding therapy and rehabilitation services provided at Daviess Community Hospital and the CORE Center.”
All proceeds from Hoops for Healthcare will support the purchase of equipment that helps patients recover through therapy at Daviess Community Hospital and the CORE Center, which provides advanced rehabilitation and musculoskeletal care for patients across southwestern Indiana.
Several community organizations have already stepped forward to support the event through sponsorships. Home Building Savings Bank is serving as the Big Dance sponsor. Old National Bank and Intelecyn Delivered by RTC are the Clutch sponsors. Poplar and Sycamore Care Strategies is the Slam Dunk sponsor. Williams Bros. Health Care Pharmacy and Ed Lee Mortuary are Jump Ball sponsors.
Additional sponsorship opportunities remain available for businesses and individuals who want to support local health care.
