SUV Crashes into Home Starting Fire
April 5 th , 2026 (Original) Daviess County, Kentucky: At approximately 4:50 AM, on Sunday, April 5 th , DCSO deputies, DCFD, Thruston FD, Yelvington FD, and AMR responded to a structure fire in the 5400 blk of Arlington Park Dr. in the Colony Mobile Home neighborhood near Thruston.

Upon arrival, deputies and firefighters observed a black SUV partially in the home with the residence and SUV both on fire. Firefighters immediately began attacking the fire and deputies spoke with the residents about what had happened. The home had been occupied by the man and woman and their three children who were sleeping when they were awakened by a loud crash. When they went outside to investigate, they observed the SUV had crashed into their home and a fire was beginning to grow where the collision had occurred. They were all able to escape from the home uninjured. The driver of the SUV had fled the scene prior to the family going outside and they did not know who it was. Deputies were assisted by Owensboro Police officers who located the registered owner of the SUV and were told the car was in the possession of a friend who lives in the 2400 block of Keenland Parkway. Deputies spoke with the subject who was unaware that the SUV was missing and reviewed video footage at her residence of three unknown subjects approaching the vehicle and leaving with it several minutes prior to the call about the crash. Deputies also spoke with witnesses who stated that prior to the collision the vehicle was seen traveling westbound through the neighborhood at a high rate of speed and lost control striking the residence. The home next door to the residence where the fire broke out was also damaged from the SUV hitting it before coming to rest and catching fire.

The fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters, but the home and the SUV were both heavily damaged. The Red Cross responded to assist the family. DCSO and DCFD are continuing to investigate this incident, and criminal charges will be sought for the suspects involved.
