WEST BADEN SPRINGS -- Indiana State Police have arrested a couple from West Baden Springs in connection to the death of their three year old in December.

Police aren’t releasing many details, but we do know 22-year-old Brittany Harris and 22-year-old Tyler Harris now face a level 1 felony count of Neglect of a Dependent Resulting in Death.

The tragedy unfolded December 3rd.  That’s when first responders were called to a home in West Baden Springs on a report of an unresponsive child.

The child was pronounced dead at the hospital.

An autopsy has been complete.  I’m waiting for a call back from the coroner on his findings.

Both Tyler and Brittany Harris are being held in the Orange County jail on $500,000 surety bond, or $50,000 cash.

Nearly two months ago, Indiana State Police Detectives David Henderson and Shane Staggs, along with Orange County Sheriff’s Department Detective Jon Deaton and the Department of Child Services initiated an investigation into the death of a three year old infant (infant information will not be disclosed).
On December 3rd, 2018 Orange County 911 Dispatch Center received an emergency call from 7487 West County Road 750 North, West Baden Springs, reporting an unresponsive infant in the home.

The infant was taken to IU Heath Paoli, were it was later pronounced deceased by Orange County Coroner Aaron Kemple and Deputy Coroner Tyler Phillips.
Investigators from both the Indiana State Police and Orange County Sheriff’s Department have worked tirelessly for countless hours, if not days, trying to connect the dots in this tragedy. Ultimately, law enforcement officers were able to obtain enough evidence to be granted two arrest warrants from the Orange County Circuit Court for:
Brittany A Harris, 22, West Baden Springs, 1 Count, Neglect of a Dependent Resulting in Death, Level 1 Felony, IC 35-46-1-4(3).

Tyler W Harris, 22, West Baden Springs, 1 Count, Neglect of a Dependent Resulting in Death, Level 1 Felony, IC 35-46-1-4(3).
Earlier today, French Lick Police Department Assistant Chief of Police Brian Shipman arrested Brittany Harris without incident.

Additionally, Orange County Sheriff’s Department Detective Jon Deaton and Sergeant Lloyd Tharp arrested Tyler Harris without incident.
Both Tyler and Brittany Harris are currently incarcerated in the Orange County Jail for 500,000 Court Surety Bond and/or 50,000 Cash Bond.

An autopsy of the deceased infant has been completed and all inquiries regarding such finding must be directed to the Orange County Coroners Office.
