Coming Soon to Jasper: Café Piña

By Kris Norton

Jasper
 - Café Piña is nearing the end of the construction phase at it's River Centre location in Jasper.

North side of the restaurant.

Though a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony are still a ways into the future, the layout - and menu - are becoming clearer for Owner Claudia Juarez.

Seating area facing the River Centre courtyard.

Café Piña will specialize in breakfast and brunch on the food side. Juarez reveals a couple popular dishes coming to the venue.

“The Pina Colada Pancakes are Connie - she’s kind of like my right hand, her favorite – those pancakes are going to be a signature,” Juarez said. “The Fruity Pebbles French Toast I’ve already done for a couple bridal showers and are a hit.”

On the cocktail menu, Juarez and members of her family have gotten creative.

The Refresher will be made with blueberry and lemonade.

Hypnotic, thought up by Juarez’s cousin Alex, she describes jokingly as “A little crazy”.

“The Double G, from my cousin Gerson is going to be a fun one,” Juarez said. “We light the rosemary on fire so you get the aroma of the rosemary when you drink it.”

The restaurant will have both a year-long and seasonal menu.

Seating options include tables, booths, and a bar. In addition to the traditional sit-down experience,  Café Piña will also feature a carry-out window on the east side of the building.

Juarez expects to be open from 5:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. from Wednesday to Friday and from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Juarez, also a chef, spent with Chef Wolfgang Puck’s catering company in Hollywood and more recently re-worked the menu for Headquarters in Jasper.

Café Piña will be located behind St. Benedict's Brew Works on the first floor of the Jasper River Centre, at 225 River Center Landing.

An opening date has not yet been scheduled.
