Ascension St. Vincent, Red Cross to host critical fall blood drive

Ascension St. Vincent Evansville is partnering with the American Red Cross Southwest Indiana Chapter to host a community blood drive from 1–6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at Ascension St. Vincent Epworth Crossing.

The approaching holiday months represent one of the most challenging times of the year for the national blood supply. According to the American Red Cross, blood donations historically drop as people become busy with seasonal travel, school schedules, and family gatherings.

At the same time, hospital demand for blood remains constant. Increased holiday travel can lead to higher numbers of motor vehicle accidents and other emergency trauma cases. A single accident victim can require up to 100 units of blood, making a steady blood supply essential for delivering lifesaving care.

To thank donors for taking time out of their schedules to give back, anyone who donates blood before Nov. 22 will receive a $10 gift card.
