Ascension St. Vincent Completes Evansville’s First Barostim Procedure
Ascension St. Vincent Evansville is proud to announce the completion of the area’s first Barostim procedure, a significant advancement in cardiovascular care. This groundbreaking surgery marks a new era for patients in the tri-state suffering from chronic, symptomatic heart failure.
The Barostim procedure involves implanting a small device into the patient’s chest that sends electrical pulses to the natural pressure sensors in the neck. These signals cause the patient’s brain to relax the body's stress response, which helps their heart pump more efficiently and reduces the symptoms of heart failure.
The successful introduction of the Barostim procedure at Ascension St. Vincent Evansville reinforces the hospital’s commitment to bringing the most advanced, life-saving cardiovascular technologies to the communities it serves.
