Armed Felon Flees Traffic Stop

On April 29 th , at approximately 3:30 pm, a Daviess County Sheriff’s Office patrol K-9 unit observed a 2015 Red Nissan Altima run the stop sign at West 5 th Street and Cedar Street in Owensboro. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, and it turned into the parking lot of Neighbors Food Mart and drove towards the alley when a male passenger jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot. The driver of the vehicle continued driving away and the K-9 deputy pursued the subject on foot. Several additional deputies arrived in the area and caught up with the suspect after a foot pursuit, but the suspect continued to actively resist and was eventually brought under control and placed under arrest. An loaded AR-15 style pistol was located concealed in the suspect’s waistband along with suspected powdered cocaine and a large amount of US currency. The driver of the Altima was located short time later in the 600 block of Orchard Street and was taken into custody as well for fleeing. Both suspects were transported and lodged in the Daviess County Detention Center. All evidence seized was logged into DCSO Evidence.
