Jasper- For the first time, the Dubois County Humane Society will host an Adopt-a-thon.

The Adopt-a-thon will be hosted at Feeder’s Pet Supply in Jasper and will run from 12:00pm to 4:00pm.

The Humane Society will have a number of activities and personal care options for the pets that are adopted on Sunday. $15 micro-chipping will be available, Feeder’s is offering  $10 nail trimming from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, and to celebrate the fall season, pumpkin spice “pupa chinos” will be available for dogs. For pet owners, there is a half-pot drawing an raffle.

“Earlier this year, we were trying to create funds to help the shelters,” said Marissa Goodness, who came up with the idea for the adopt-a-thon, “Being a non-for profit there’s always some who struggle to make ends meet. We wanted to do something where if people wanted to see pets in person versus looking online. We wanted to broaden their horizons since we’ve never done it before.”

The adoption fees are $40 for a cat and $125 for a dog.
