89-Mile Pursuit ends in Gibson County, Two Arrested
Monroe-Gibson County: Tuesday morning, February 17, at approximately 9:49 EST, Senior Trooper Jeremy Cox was patrolling I-69 near the 117 mile-marker when he attempted to stop the driver of a blue 2022 Chevrolet Silverado for driving 83 mph in a 65-mph zone. The driver refused to stop and continued south on I-69 reaching speeds over 100 mph. On several occasions during the chase, troopers observed the driver and passenger discard a substance from the inside of the vehicle.
Indiana State Police and Gibson County Sheriff’s Deputies deployed stop sticks near the 39 mile-marker, which deflated at least two tires on the Chevrolet Silverado. The driver continued south at a slower speed until another trooper performed a successful Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) near the 25 mile-marker, causing the Chevrolet Silverado to leave the roadway and come to a final rest in the median. The driver and passenger were arrested without further incident and taken to the Monroe County Jail. Troopers found a small amount of suspected meth inside the truck. This is an on-going investigation.
