3 Vehicle Collision Involving Cruiser Closes I-165 for 2 Hours

At approximately 2:54 pm on Monday, February 16th, a Daviess County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) patrol cruiser was involved in a three-vehicle collision on Interstate165.

The DCSO patrol deputy had responded to a call of debris in the roadway and had exited his vehicle to clear the roadway just prior to the collision. The cruiser’s emergency equipment including his lightbar was activated. A northbound Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was behind the DCSO cruiser and was slowing to a stop when a northbound Kenworth semi-truck and trailer that was behind the Toyota Tacoma failed to stop and struck both the Toyota Tacoma and the DCSO patrol car.

All three vehicles were severely damaged, but no injuries were reported from anyone involved. AMR Ambulance Service responded to the scene and the Kentucky State Police is investigating the collision at the request of DCSO due to their cruiser being involved. Both northbound lanes were closed for two hours while law enforcement worked the crash and wreckers cleared the scene.
