2 Seriously Injured in Head-on Crash

Daviess County, Kentucky: On Thursday, February 12 th at approximately 5:09 pm, Owensboro Daveiss County Central Dispatch received a report of an accident with injuries at the intersection of Highway 81 and Park Drive in the Friendly Village community of southwestern Daviess County. Daviess County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies, Daviess County Fire Department, Moselyville Fire Department and AMR Ambulance Service were dispatched and responded to the crash. 

The initial investigation indicates a 2008 Chevy truck was exiting the Even Steven’s parking lot going south on Highway 81 and pulled into the path of a 2016 Ford passenger car that was traveling north at highway speeds. The passenger car attempted to avoid the collision by swerving around the Chevy truck but the two vehicles struck head-on causing severe damage to both vehicles. The pickup truck driver was treated at the scene by firefighters and EMS for minor injuries. The driver and passenger of the Ford Focus were both trapped in the vehicle and had to be mechanically extricated by firefighters. Both sustained several severe injuries including broken bones and were taken by AMR Ambulance Service to Owensboro Health Regional hospital. 

The investigation will be continued by the DCSO Accident Reconstruction Unit. Highway 81 was closed in both directions for an hour and a half until the scene was cleared.
