1 Killed in Single Vehicle Crash

On August 8 th , at approximately 5:00 pm, Daviess County Sheriff’s Office patrol units responded to a single vehicle crash in the 1800 block of Hill Bridge Road. Upon arrival emergency crews located a 1991 Ford F-150 crashed in a ditch alongside the roadway. The initial investigation indicates that the driver failed to negotiate a 90-degree turn and causing him to leave the roadway and crash head-on into the earthen embankment on the far side of the ditch. The vehicle sustained severe damage, and the unconscious driver had to be removed by Daviess County firefighters. He was then transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital by ambulance in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries on Sunday evening. There were no other passengers in the vehicle. 

The DCSO Accident Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene and is investigating the circumstances of the crash. Along with DCSO, the Daviess County Fire Department, Masonville Fire Department, and AMR Ambulance Service responded to the crash. The roadway was closed for approximately 1 hour. The name of the decedent will be released at the direction of the Daviess County Coroner after 24 hours.
