1 Dead, 1 Injured in Overnight Knottsville Shooting

On Saturday morning at approximately 1 am, Owensboro - Daviess County Central Dispatch received a report of a shooting that had occurred near Highway 144 and Saint Lawrence Road in the Knottsville area of eastern Daviess County.

Initial reports indicated that there was an altercation at a field party and that an unknown subject began firing a handgun striking multiple people. While enroute to the area, Daviess County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies were advised that victims were being taken from the scene to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital (OHRH) by private vehicles. Additional deputies were dispatched to the OHRH and confirmed that two patients were being treated in the Emergency Department for gunshot injuries.

One of the victims, a 19-year-old male, died from his wounds shortly after arriving at the hospital. The other victim, a juvenile, remains at OHRH in stable condition. Neither victim will be identified at this time.

DCSO Detectives from the General Investigations Unit, Special Investigations Unit, and Forensic Investigations Unit as well as patrol deputies responded to interview witnesses and collect evidence. The Daviess County Coroner’s Office responded to the hospital to conduct a death investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
