"Suspicious Man" Prompts Lockdown Tuesday at Ferdinand Elementary School, No Danger

From Local Sources

FERDINAND -- A suspicious man prompted a lockdown Tuesday at Ferdinand Elementary School.

Police say an Asian male, who didn’t speak English, was seen on school property just before 10:00 a.m.  When a school official tried to speak to him, the man walked behind a utility building east of the school.

Officials initiated the lockdown and police arrived on scene to clear the school.

The man was found a short time later near the school.  An interpreter was brought in to help with the language barrier.

Investigators determined there was no threat and the lockdown was lifted.

Ferdinand Police say school officials responded appropriately to Tuesday’s situation.
