Vivian F. Fischer, age 85 of Schnellville

Vivian F. Fischer, age 85 of Schnellville, Indiana, passed away at 3:06 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Brookside Village in Jasper, Indiana.

Vivian was born in St. Meinrad, Indiana on September 10, 1933 to Oscar and Alice (Knust) Schnellenberger. She married Joe Fischer on June 19, 1954 in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Huntingburg, IN.

She was a 1951 Huntingburg High School Graduate.

Vivian was a homemaker and active in the family farm. She also worked for Hillary Blessinger Accounting and the Dubois County Assessor's Office.

She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish - Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and their St. Ann's Sodality. She served as Eucharistic Minister at mass and for the homebound. She also actively participated in the Sacred Heart Hour of Adoration.

She was also a member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society, the Schnellville Home Economics Club, and served as a Democratic Precinct Committee Woman.


She was a devoted mother and lifelong caregiver to many extended family members. She was also an avid gardener and canner, enjoyed reading, and especially loved caring for her grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband, Joe Fischer, Schnellville, four daughters, Paula Alles (Bill), Jasper, Cindy Lybarger (Dave), Nashville, TN, Cheryl Ferguson (Jeff), Fishers, IN, Connie Stemle (Myron), Celestine, two sons Dave Fischer (Diana), Schnellville, and Ken Fischer (fiancé Beth Frede), Newport, KY, fifteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one brother, Tom Schnellenberger (Virginia), Huntingburg, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were two sisters, Judy Schnellenberger and Dottie Schmutzler.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Vivian F. Fischer will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville, IN, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

A visitation will be held from 2:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2018 at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana and one hour before services at the church from 9:00-10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Sacred Heart St. Ann's Sodality will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday.
