Virlee B. Gehlhausen, 78 of Huntingburg

Virlee B. Gehlhausen, 78 of Huntingburg passed away Tuesday June 12th at Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center, Jasper. She was born August 13, 1939 in Saint Anthony to Anthony Sr. & Elizabeth (Englert) Braunecker. She married Eugene A. Gehlhausen on June 20, 1959 in Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

Virlee was a lifelong member of Divine Mercy Parish, Saint Anthony Church, and its Christian Mothers Sodality. She was a member of Saint Anthony Community Center, and Ferdinand Community Center. Virlee retired after 33 years at DMI Furniture in Huntingburg.She enjoyed cooking and baking, and she was an avid sports fan.

Surviving are her husband of 58 years Eugene A. Gehlhausen, daughters, Charlene (Robert) Fleck, Cindy Bueltel both of Huntingburg. One son, Verlyn (Rita) Gehlhausen of Huntingburg. Grandchildren, Audrey Shaw, Breanne Terwiske, Brett, Calvin and Nikki Bueltel, Brandon Gehlhausen, Kaci Gutgsell, Noah Gehlhausen and Megan Benningfield. 10 great-grandchildren. Her step-mother, Carolyn Vogel-Braunecker. Sisters, Beatrice (Dave) Recker of St. Anthony, Martha Miller of Jasper, Annette (Bob) Schepers of Celestine, and Marlene (Larry) King of Huntingburg. Two brothers, Jerry (Sandy) Braunecker of Hayesville, and Kenny (Marla) Braunecker of St. Anthony. Step-sister, Dollie (Dave) Weikert of Jasper and step-brother Larry Vogel of Jasper. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Randy Gehlhausen, sister, Betty Jean Waninger and brothers, Anthony Jr., Donald and Kevin Braunecker. Step-brother, Roger Vogel.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday June 16th in Divine Mercy Parish, St. Anthony of Padua Church, St. Anthony. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 8:00 PM at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand and Saturday after 9:00 AM at the church.
